Description
An antique Japanese sewing box called Haribako that measures 12.75" wide by 10.25" high by 7.75" deep. Made of dark stained Momiji (Maple) and Kirinoki (Paulownia) woods. Clear natural lacquer finish. Upper lid opens to a removable tray where a pin cushion and spools of thread used to be stored. Lifting the tray reveals a secret drawer where valuables were kept away from prying eyes. Right side upper rear corner has a slot where a sewing ruler used to be held. 5 visible drawers of varying sizes for additional storage.
