    Description

From my anti-slavery collection I offer a 1796 anti-slavery token that is always weak in the centers. A bit nicer than my other so priced a tad more, but I always consider offers on any of my listings. Issued by Francis Wheeler and engraved by James. Made by Skidmore. Listed by Dalton & Hammer as their Aylesbury #7. Always has weak centers and this one is well above average for the type, with perfect color and great surfaces, but look for yourself. The obverse has a bust of William III with the maker JAMES under the truncation. Legend around. TO THE FRIENDS FOR THE ABOLITION OF SLAVERY. The reverse shows a CAP OF LIBERTY on a pole with rays emanating from it; 4 banners at the sides. The legend ***AYLESBURY * TOKEN **** 1796. Hard glossy surfaces and nice color. Diagonally milled edge. Scarce. See the scans. Free U.S. shipping. Paypal
I am always open to offers on any of my listings. Just ask. Worst thing is I say no.
